- Soak tovar dal for 2-3 hours. Cut all the vegetables. Wash tovar dal and vegetables properly.
- Soak imli in hot water for 1 hour. When it become soft then mash it and and squeeze it.
- Now take a cooker add tovar dal, all vegetables, salt turmeric pd, water and give 4-5 whistles..
- Finely cut onions and churn tomatoes..
- Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, kadhi patta, hing and dry chillies to it. then add onions and golden brown it.
- Add tomato pulp, and cook till it leave oil. Add dhania pd, chilly pd and sambhar masala..
- Mash the boiled dal and vegetables with masher. Add tomato pulp to it. Add imli pulp. Add required water. And cook it for more 15-20 minutes. Serve with dosa or idli.
Fry the ingredients for a minute or so. Once done, remove from the flame and allow it to cool. When the veggies are ready, mix in the dal, sambar powder, tamarind paste and mix until well blended. Lemon juice can be substituted for tamarind. Adjust seasonings, and the final step would be to prepare the tempering or baghar.
