Homemade doughnuts are a bit of a project, but they're less work than you might think, and the result is a truly great, hot, crisp doughnut Once you've mastered this basic recipe for a fluffy, yeasted doughnut, you can do pretty much anything you like in terms of glazes, toppings and fillings.
Grease a large bowl with cooking spray and set aside.
You can cook Doughnuts Recipe using 8 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you achieve that.
Ingredients of Doughnuts Recipe
- Prepare 2 cups of all purpose flour.
- Prepare 2 tablespoon of sugar.
- It's 2 tablespoon of milk powder.
- It's 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
- You need 1 tablespoon of cooking oil.
- It's 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
- You need 1 of egg.
- You need 1/4 cup of water.
In a small, microwave-safe bowl or glass measuring cup, add milk. The doughnuts tasted really (ahem) crispy and creamy but were slightly heavier than the store-bought ones (which is, I think, more the fault of the flour than the recipe). If you follow the directions carefully the doughnuts will turn out delicious. This recipe is very simple, quick, and tasty, and makes a perfect basic cake doughnut recipe.
Doughnuts Recipe instructions
- Mix all the dry ingredients together.
- Beat your egg till fluffy and add it to the dry ingredients.
- Add your water bit by bit while making a dough.
- When almost ready add your oil and knead till it stops sticking in your hands.
- Cover the dough with a clean cloth/cling film and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Cut the dough into balls of your desired size, roll and make a small hole in the middle.
- Heat you oil and deep fry your doughnuts till ready.
- Serve with a drink of your choice.
The dough doesn't have much flavor on its own, so for myself I would season them with cinnamon, citrus, vanilla, etc. If you roll each doughnut quickly in flour before frying you'll get a nice, crispy exterior. You can scale it down - or up - as you need! For frosted doughnuts, see our three easy doughnut glazes. To make the glaze: In a large mixing bowl using a hand mixer or whisk, mix all ingredients together.
